There he was; just sitting in front of her. She didn't want to talk to him. What happened the other day wasn't real. People couldn't just disappear like that. She sighed. Maybe she wasn't seeing things clearly and what happened didn't happen. Emma leaned back in her chair. She wished that someone would hold her and tell her everything was okay. Yeah that sounded silly, but Emma had never told a boy that she loved them. They always broke up with her because she couldn't say, "I love you." It hurt her. They thought she was insensitive among other things.
The teacher walked into the classroom and smiled at Emma. She smiled back. The teacher and her were cool. Miss Deadwood looked at Jarek and smiled. Emma went back to her book. She didn't want to see Jarek and yet that was impossible. He was in her class. She hated that. She hated that he knew that she wasn't happy. Emma just hoped that he kept that to himself.
"Well hello," Miss Deadwood said with a smile. "You two are here early." She put her bags down on her desk. "How are you Emma?"
Emma looked up from her book and gave her a smile. No one would know that it was fake except for Jarek, which again made her mad. "I'm great," she lied. "How are you?"
"Running, always running," Miss Deadwood said and looked at Jarek. "How are you?"

Jarek stared up at the ceiling as he listened. When Deadwood addressed him, he didn't look at her.
"Same ol', same ol'," he replied.
Then, he heard it. A loud humming coming from behind him. He leaned forward and the chair slammed back onto all fours. Jarek slowly turned, aiming his ear at the sound. Just when he was about to focus in on it, another student came into the class. The sound was gone.

Class started and Emma dove into the knowledge. The radiator hummed in the distance and the classmates rose their hands to answer questions. All the meanwhile, Emma stared at the back of Jarek's head. She couldn't help but notice him. He was so handsome; so different and yet she liked him. The teacher called break and Emma sighed. The silence and the time where she was able to look at him was gone. It wasn't really quiet with all the chatter, but Emma felt like no one understood her. No one would ever know about her curse. No one would ever know that she truly loved them and she would disappear. Well, not literally but she felt like no one would ever know her. The witch had cursed her. Emma's eyes watered and as soon as Miss Deadwood announced break she walked out of that class room faster than she realized.
Emma walked to a quiet, cut off place in the library and hoped that no one noticed her. She didn't even allow her friend to call out for her. The young girl stared out the window and a few tears rolled down her cheeks. She hated this part. The part where she pitied herself, but she couldn't help it. The curse would only be broken if the man told her how he truly felt about her. Emma scoffed. Yeah right, like that would happen. She was doomed. At that point she felt like being pessimistic. It was the only thing that helped her ease the pain in her heart. ((sorry I hope I gave your character time or a chance maybe to talk to her xD or whatever you want to do lol))

Jarek caught Emma rushing out of the room from the corner of his eye. He narrowed his eyes for a second, having smelled salt water as she passed.
"Great," he thought. "She's crying.
He took the break to the library, for whatever reason, and tucked back into the older research section. Only student with ancient histories to study would venture back here. He looked up at the light overhead and it flickered before it slowly dimmed out. He closed his eyes and the blinds on the window at his back suddenly slammed down. He was plunged into his own little personal shadow.
Now, he could focus on what that humming sound was. His first thought was that maybe the school was starting to reach it's last stretch of rope. Pipes or the water heater. Maybe even the furnace. But it sounded all too familiar.
Then, it hit him. Someone else's magick. He couldn't tell if it was another witch or if it was just residual magick. Either way, it was strong and surprisingly close.
Jarek stood up quickly, the light came back on and the blinds shot back up. He walked out of the aisle and stopped when a brunette caught his eye. He turned to look at her and sighed.
He could smell the tears from here and could hear the humming. Emma was the source of the magick.
"Hey," he said quietly.

His voice snapped her out of her world and brought her back to reality. She didn't like reality. It was cruel and heartless, but then again so was her fantasy world. So reality was probably better. It wasn't full of hope, butterflies, or girly things that girls were supposed to like. Emma jumped, startled and quickly wiped her tears away. Damn it. She hated blowing her cover. She needed to show people that she was happy. Including him. Emma didn't want people to find out her secret.
"Hey," Emma said. "You scared me." She didn't know anyone else knew this spot. She would have to find a new spot.

Jarek avoided her eyes as he spoke. He saw her wipe away the tears but said nothing about it.
"Sorry..."
He stuffed his hands in his pockets as he was met with an awkward silence again. Unfortunately, he couldn't exactly stir up a whirlwind here. So, he asked Emma the only question he could.
"Why were you crying? It isn't because of what I said to you yesterday, is it?"
The humming was back, but Jarek ignored it. He'd find out soon enough what magick coated her. Maybe when she was asleep tonight. He could do a scan to find out what it was exactly.
"I was just in a bad mood," he added.

Emma wondered why he saw her only when she was upset. It drove her nuts. No one else saw her this upset. It bugged her and slightly annoyed her. No she wasn't upset because of him she was upset because of her fate. He just didn't know that and she couldn't tell him either. She couldn't tell anyone. It was part of the deal. One time she tried telling her best friend and when she did, she went silent. There was no sound. However, she could talk about anything else. She took a deep breath and then sighed.
"It wasn't you," Emma said. "I don't mean to sound rude, but how come you see the bad side of me? No one else does, but you."

Jarek perked a brow at her question. Like he should know? It's not like he tried to find her whenever she was upset.
"I'm not really sure what you mean. Don't your friends see it sometimes?" he asked. "It's not like I'm purposely trying to find you when you're upset. How am I supposed to know when you're upset?"
He pursed his lips as his mind finally caught up with his mouth. He just couldn't shut up sometimes. Just had to be mean.
"I mean, don't you talk to your friends about what's upsetting you?" he added in a weak attempt to sound empathetic. "Isn't that what friends are for?"
He wouldn't do it. He wouldn't ask. It had nothing to do with him and it didn't need to have anything to do with him.
"We should probably get back to class. Break's almost over," he said as he stared at her.
Jarek got caught in her eyes for a moment. He quickly looked away and then started back to the classroom.

Emma opened her mouth to say something but couldn't. No her friends hadn't seen her upset. No one ever does; except her mother. The girl tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and shook her head. She wanted someone to find her so badly; someone to see that she was in pain but at the same time she didn't. Wouldn't that be cheating? It's not like she was just letting him see her when she cried. He just happened to be there. No. She should just end this whole thing right now. Emma didn't want to get her heart crushed. This is how it usually played out: the guy would see her upset, then ask her out, fall in love with her, and then leave her. Why? Because she couldn't say it. Those three little words. It was enough. Emma looked at Jarek.
"Yeah," Emma said; giving him the cold shoulder. "We should." She said and walked past him and towards the classroom.
She didn't want to see him at all. Everything felt like it was falling around her and she didn't like it. Emma was not going through this again. The lights in the library shone down on her skin almost illuminating her. They didn't make her seem unnatural or out of the ordinary they just brightened her up. She stormed towards the class room and walked back inside where everyone was just beginning to sit down. People were talking, sitting, and some were just being quiet. Emma found her friend Rachel and sat back down next to her.
Rachel looked at her and smiled. "I saw you and Jarek together." She said. "He's hot isn't he?"
"I don't want to talk about him." Emma said.

She pushed past him and made it to the classroom before him. He stopped outside to fight the urge to sent an orb or magick through the wall at his stupidity. Instead, he satisfied his thoughts with a simple slap on the wall.
Jarek walked inside just as Rachel said that he was hot. He held back the next urge to roll his eyes and took his seat in front of them.
The rest of class was uneventful and rather boring. He barely listened. He was too concerned with the fact that he felt that he hurt Emma's feelings. And, that was coupled with the confusion over his concern about it.
When class was over, he stormed out of the room. He didn't want to be distracted by Emma a minute longer. But, at the same time he did. It might have explained why he cloaked himself and stayed as close as he could to Emma.
"Why are you so interesting? Why are you bothering me? Why are you confusing me?"

Emma watched Jarek leave and sighed. She made her way out of the class room as well, completely ignoring Rachel. She felt slightly bad. She had never let a guy get to her before. It irked her. Emma turned a corner, passed some book shelves, and ran to the elevators. She wanted to get away from everyone as quickly as possible. Behind her, she had the feeling that someone was watching her. Ignoring it, she pressed the button on the wall to go down. It lit up. The time it took to get here was going slowly and she did not like that. Emma tapped her foot on the floor impatiently and pressed the button several times again until she heard the elevator coming. She took a deep breath. Why was she so anxious?
"I need to stop thinking about him." Emma thought. I'm never going to get the chance with him. He probably thinks I'm annoying anyway."
Emma pressed the button again and finally the elevator doors came. She walked inside the elevator, thinking she was alone. Emma ran her fingers through her hair and pressed the number two button. She needed to get out of here. This place was driving her nuts. The elevator stopped at the floor two and she walked out. A few people said hello to her as she walked out of the elevator and passed the student store. Around the corner was the cafeteria. At the end of the cafeteria was an exit. There were two cops sitting at the table talking by the door. They monitored who came in and who left. They were generally really nice. Emma waved good bye to them as she exited the building and walked passed the smokers. There were a bunch of kids out here because the afternoon classes had just ended. So naturally, many people needed a smoke.
Emma turned walked down a couple of stairs and into the parking lot. She spotted her yellow Volkswagen beetle not too far from the entrance of the parking lot. She always got really good spots because she came to school early. Emma walked to her beetle and got into her car. She put the keys in and turned on the car. She loved turning on her car. Usually no one else drove her car. It was just hers; her baby. Emma named her car Gilly.
"Hey baby," Emma said. "Its just you and me." She turned on the radio and listened to Lady Gaga as she put the car in drive.

It was easy to follow her into the elevator and then outside. But, the most fun thing to do was to sneak into her car without her feeling him. It certainly wasn't easy, but it wasn't something he was incapable of.
He watched as she hid her sadness, even to herself. She hid it with conversations with a vehicle and music. He couldn't help but feel bad now. Even if he wanted to.
As he sat in the backseat and watched her jam to her favorite tunes, he reached out and almost touched her, but thought better of it. The last thing he needed was for her to freak out and swerve into oncoming traffic.
So, he remained silent through her singing and driving until she finally parked and he had the time to get closer. But why did he want to? He touched her shoulder, but lightly and only for a second.

The car was quiet now as she sat in her drive way. No music. No outside sounds; except maybe the cars passing by. Emma thought she felt someone and almost jumped. She turned around, just being her paranoid self and found no one in the back seat. Emma sighed heavily. She got out of her car and walked into her house where it was just her mother, her father, and herself. It felt so good to be home. There were hardly any people. It gave her time to be herself. Emma loved her home. It was like grandmother's house. There was a smell of warm, apple pie; smelled like that all the time. Emma loved it. It made her feel safe. Over the years the witch that she insulted came to her home and told her more about her curse. It would never be broken until someone came forth and was her true love. Also if she wasn't in love by the witch's appearance, which was twenty one, she would be the witch's slave for eternity until the witch got bored with her. It all seemed silly now. Even to her mother, but Emma followed the rules. She couldn't tell anyone about the curse and if she tried, she would become mute. She shook her head. It was all so foolish and retarded.
Emma walked down the hall way, which was hard wood floor and into the kitchen. There were pictures of her family on the hung up on the walls. Why even bother? She knew she wasn't going to be here much longer. Her twenty first birthday was in two years; two years. That wasn't nearly enough time to get to know someone and fall in love. Emma shook her head and walked into the kitchen. It was a huge kitchen; the kind of kitchen with two islands that had marble table tops and all the Tupperware and kitchen ware was shiny. The girl walked straight to the liquor cabinet and grabbed the vodka. She poured herself a medium glass with cranberry juice and got the Tequila out too. Her parents wouldn't be home until nine. No one would know. Plus tomorrow was her day off. She took the shot of Tequila and then a sip of the vodka. Then another shot of Tequila. Emma turned on some music on the big speakers by her flat screen television. Then she hooked up her Ipod to the flat screen television and just let her favorite music play. The first song was Love The Way You Lie by Eminem featuring Rhiana. She didn't know why she liked it, but she felt like it somehow suited her.
In drunken dances, Emma danced to her music. "Now you're getting fuckin sick of looking at them." She sang and just listened to the song. She took another shot of Tequila and prayed that someone would save her.

Jarek looked right back into Emma's eyes as she whirled around to find the thing that had touched her. He stayed in the car so that she wouldn't sense his presence. But, once she was inside, he was quick to follow. The house was empty, like his usually was. She went straight to the alcohol, like he always did. The only thing that was different was that she rocked out to music while she got intoxicated.
Why was he here? Why did he follow her? He needed to find a way to reveal himself to her, but he couldn't just manifest in her house. So what to do?
He did the only thing he could do. He killed the electricity to her house. The music instantly cut out, even the iPod turned off.
"Emma," he said softly. "Why are you so sad?"

When the music cut, Emma jumped. She thought she was alone in the house. Who did that? She turned around and saw Jarek. What the...How did he...She was confused and slightly scared. Emma looked at him. Everything he had said to her ran through her mind. He hated her. Right? Wasn't she done with him? She didn't want to see him anymore and yet, he was right here. This needed to stop.
"How the hell did you get in here?!" Emma yelled. She was slightly buzzed and wondered if it was the alcohol getting to her.
