In the year of 2012, a virus broke out. People turned into demons. These demons looked like vampires from stories except now they were real. At first it started out simple. There was a few vampires here and there. Then it really broke out after two years. Families had wanted to Turn their children to save them from being Sired by anyone else. So they Turned them. Little did we know that children could not handle the vampire gene. The minds of children are undeveloped and one cannot be adult and innocent at the same time. So their minds rejected the gene and became like zombies. Their bloodlust was uncontrollable. The vampire police were forced to take action and exterminate them. They were no longer children once the virus entered their system. They were gone, destroyed. After that incident with the children, humans had started to die out rather quickly.
Humans and vampires in this society cannot live without each other. The humans need the vampires to protect them and the vampires need the humans to survive. After society found out that humans were dying out, the Corporate police (the vampire police that are in place to protect the humans with their last "breath") was obligated to enter every home and take every human. These humans would be "arrested" because normal society was no place for a human anymore. It was a bloodthirsty war out there. The vampires that could not afford the blood bags would starve and would fall into survival mode. The Corporate (the vampires in power) had taken all the humans and built a city that was heavily guarded just for the humans.
The humans would grow up within this city and once old enough, the humans would be forced to mate to produce life. 1 out of every 3rd child would go to a different city where they would be treated like kings in return for their blood. Any human that tried to rebel would pay the price. Some rebellious humans would go to a jail and be forced to an induced sleep and their blood would be drained from them without them knowing it because they would be asleep. Once that human was near death, the human was killed. The humans that grow up within the society however lived a very fruitful life so long as they donated blood willingly. As long as the humans within society lived by the rules and obeyed the laws, the humans were free to do whatever they wanted. They were even educated and could choose careers that the Corporate paid for.
The other humans that were not sent to jail were sent to an Experimental Society. This society was a scientific society that experimented with humans and vampires. The scientists were determined to find a solution of the following: a vampire to walk in the daylight and a vampire to enter a home without permission.
Welcome to society with vampires. Which are you? Experimental? Or do you live in society? Do you live outside of society and fight for survival? Are you a human that rebells within society? Or are you just a human that follows the rules? Are you a vampire that wants to help humans regain control of the world? Are you a vampire looking for a cure? You tell the story.

"Hell - that's what this location was. An underground cesspool full of lies and unethical experiments and bigotry. As if these blood suckers weren't pleased that they infested the world, they had to "protect" and preserve the scraps of humans left amongst all the carnage, even if they were just hanging on by a thread of life. They called every beat of a human heart a blessing, but the more my own heart beat, the more this pulse told me I was cursed. Surviving amongst the predators wasn't a "blessing." My life wasn't being preserved, it was being held captive like some lab rat for the sake of the lesser. My body responded well to their sick studies thus dubbing me the favorite test subject. And all for the greater good of the Corporate. These greedy politicians needed warm bodies to find a "cure" to their inability to walk amongst the sun without spontaneously combusting or to cross a threshold without bumping into an invisible wall (which, hilarious fun fact - the stronger amongst this horrid breed COULD come uninvited but not without a price. I've been told it's gruesome and I live for the day I can watch this glorious event take place) and all to no avail. Their work had been in vain, contradicting their pledge to protect the last of the humans. Each failed experiment brought us closer to total extinction. One by one, needle by needle, we were being exterminated at the vampires leisure...
White pulsated faintly. Slowly, stark white lights began filling the dark, covering everything in pulsating flashes. It began wane, but it was quickly began lighting from its prior waning state. All she remembered was stark, ice blue eyes and sterile fabric before the inkling of metal registered in her body.
Then, it was lights out.
Why did any blood transfusions of any kind always made her faint? She would think she would be used to it by now, with it being the umpteenth time there was a prick print slowly clotting on the back of her hand.
She awoke and the same icy eyes were staring at her, almost marveling her increasing indignation despite her groggy state. She swiped a hand over face as if wiping the languidness away and was determined to straighten to face the individual yet her weakened state didn't allow her to move any further.
"Careful... I drew quite a bit of blood this time. You're still too weak, feisty one."
Fiesty one. Her gaze narrowed at that. He thought he was being cute, she thought he could shove the statement and drink bleach with it.
"It's alright... Asphyxia? Odd n--oh, alias. Real name: unknown. I see." His hands quickly closed her file and approached her languid, lying body.
"I still need you here. I'm going to inject you with blood in this next procedure and..." his eyes lowered to her figure, drew away from her as if with an inkling of guilt, " analyze you."
Asphyxia glowered. Vampires didn't feel guilt. They were vindictive leeches from hell bent on purging and preying for pleasure. However, the connotation on that last word had her mind racing a million miles ahead of her once she was more coherent. Her eyes slowly began to widen with realization, but got stuck in the same furrow of before; her own ocean blue's staring in defeat at her... "doctor."
Since she was rendered speechless and was too stubborn to make the effort to talk, she just turned her gaze away until the doctor announced to his pocket recorder that he was about to inject 10cc's of vampire blood into his test subject. Before Asphyxia could protest or try to wriggle out of her restraints, the masked vampire, in the blink of an eye, injected the horrendously long needle into her vein and Asphyxia's eyes dilated before everything went black.
Pulses of images. A faint image of satin fabric, of skin on skin, of a painted skull face, of a gloved hand caressing skin and the touch registered almost as real, made her grimace in her asleep state until another image pulsated in her head--the same masked painted skull-face but this time it grunted lowly, eyes inky and expression of debauchery until a guttural, gasped voice said, "Zombie queen," and everything got sucked into one big flash of white lights again and she was awake with a gasp. Her mind suddenly felt vulnerable, invaded with repressed memories but spacious, as if it had expanded and it was thirsty for more knowledge while still maintaining and being able to easily recall, with remarkable photographic memory, everything it knew and had lived. However, the repressed memories were still not fully recovered and were slowly coming back to her in pulses, ringing in her head every time a new one presented itself, giving her knowledge of time lost, of why she was here and answering some questions as to why she was actually being experimented.
Everything came short when a new sensation hit her tongue. It came in a flash, felt burning and tasted metallic and quickly dissipated. Her vision was focusing and adjusting until everything became sharp and objects far away became zoomed and visible. That didn't go away. Her ears ringed in an awful pitched that finally caused a high pitched scream to escape her lips and cripple her senses. When it finally went silent, she finally straightened enough to look at the vampire inches away from her, chagrin covering her expression.
"What. Did. You. Do."
It wasn't a question but a demand--the dangerous demand of a woman on edge.
The "doctor" pulled his expression into a deadpan, inched away slowly toward the recorder he left on the counter along with her file and fiddled with his fingers, feigning innocence.
"Oh~ just surfaced some of your recessive vampire traits..."
[OOC: heheh! your turn River. You can totally put another experiment guy near her to make it more interesting!]

The Experimental Bay was a sight to see. The whole unit seemed immensely clean for what was going on there. The unit had white walls and glass doors. Everything was professional. This was the place where humans rebelled went to. What had gotten her arrested? Well, she had wanted to save her little sister. Her little sister was turning eighteen in two months. At that time Corporate would find her a compatible human and they would be forced to mate. This thought brought tears to her eyes. Nerissa was filled with dread. She wished to move but she could not. She was handcuffed to a bed for lights out. After Asphyxia was experimented on, she would be next. Nerissa was in the same unit as her and she was to be next...That scared her. She had been experimented on before, but nothing like this.
In the distance, Nerissa heard voices. She had recognized Asphyxia's voice and the doctors. She struggled at her handcuffs. She wanted free of this world, free of this place. Nerissa had needed to get to her sister. She was not ready. Perhaps it was her own belief that was crushing her soul. Her belief that True Love existed and she told it to her sister. Was it her belief that put her here? Nerissa wondered. She wondered then if she deserved to be here. Nerissa sighed heavily and stared at the ceiling. Everything was so white. Everything was so plain. She sighed again and thought of her sister. Her sister was the only thing that she could think of. Nerissa had wanted to get to her. She hadn't wanted to be experimented on. She never wanted any of this. Vampires did not control this world. This world belonged to the living. Nerissa clenched her fists. She was not going to let the filthy Corporate destroy her family.
She was going to get out of here.
Nerissa made a racket just then. She made her chains make as much obnoxious noise as they could. Hopefully it would distract the doctor and Asphyxia.

The doctor's smart blue eyes shifted toward the recorder and back toward the file after drinking in the subject's reaction. His fingers coiled around the recorder, opened the file and slowly walked toward Asphyxia.
"Asphyxia..." he sighed. "Such an odd name to choose for yourself."
There was a click and the black recorder was suddenly pressed to his lips, his lips looked like they were moving, but it was all in low hissing sounds. All Asphyxia could pick up were little snippets here and there like, "react well," and, "temporary." Assuming it was just relaying what was going on with her, Asphyxia decided to avert her eyes from the endless stark white walls toward the glass. There were silhouettes of the table, the chair she was on, the metal tray... and then there was a blob of a figure looking through to them. It wasn't completely clear, but she could see the anxiety in the body language.
Must be the next test subject...
"Asphyxia. Natural blonde. Current hair color:..." he looked up, seemed to debate what shade of color she was actually wearing until finally deciding on cobalt blue. "Pale for a human... abnormally pale. Ocean blue eyes. Height: 5'4". Weight:--" Asphyxia grunted, causing the vampire to smile. "130lbs."
Even though Asphyxia didn't want to even touch base with the doctor, let alone look at him, she relented into small, albeit hesitant conversation.
"Is that really necessary... doctor?" And really, that word felt sour to say, but it sounded venomous and it made her smile wryly.
The doctor, who looked like he had the patience of a saint but the smart eyes of a devil, slowly dropped the recorder to his side, wrote some quick notes on her file and approached his lab rat, sat next to her and sighed. "It's imperative for the experiment, yes. You're an interesting... human being," and didn't it sound like "human" just had a hesitant connotation just then, "You respond well to treatment--"
"Treatment," Asphyxia snorted. "Thanks for humoring me, doc."
The doctor smiled and just then, his ice blue eyes flashed--since the eyes were the only thing Asphyxia could actually see--and just when it seemed genuine, the skin around them tightened and his irises dilated. His head suddenly turned toward the source of the noise to see his next project fussing and causing a distraction. Asphyxia thought she heard a low hiss, but her attention was stolen by none other than Nerissa!
Gaping like an idiot for the better of a few minutes, Asphyxia realized that the doctor was distracted enough for her to try and slip out. She managed to slip off her restraints with amazing swift ability, but when she went to move, her legs felt 1,000lbs heavier than she recalled and she stumbled, regaining the doctor's attention which caused him to swoop her up in a blink and forget all about Nerissa.
Startled, Asphyxia looked at the doctor puzzled. He was testing on her but he also seemed like humoring her and now saving her? Vampires were soulless blood suckers, why in the name of anything unholy was he holding her that way and staring at her like those sappy guys did in those sappy movies that made her gag?
"Why are you doing this?"
Seeming at a loss for words, the doctor looked at Nerissa and then back at her, seeming conflicted. He did some sort of gesture and they were suddenly aware of cameras. Was he keeping a semblance for the sake of the Corporate?
"Listen, I already stated how remarkable you are... If you just... have patience, I can help."
Asphyxia scoffed. "HELP?!" The concept seemed foreign to her and her hand was already swatting at him to let her go, but the languidness of her body gave her limited mobility.
"HELP!!?" THE NERVE! Her voice was getting high pitched but it was sounding faint and her lids felt heavy until she successfully passed out in his arms. Settling her down on the nearby bed and turned to face the raucous Nerissa. He disappeared and reappeared next to her, facial expression a bit dark and snarling. "Nice of you to show early to the experimental lab, Nerissa."

For a moment she had hope. Nerissa saw Asphyxia escape with her own green eyes. She thought that for a moment, she could escape with Asphyxia and save her sister. That moment immediately stopped when the doctor had stopped her friend. Nerissa's eyes watered when the doctor spoke to her. She was completely human. She was a pure specimen for him. He could have all his fun and games. Nerissa looked at the man said,
"Please, please can I make a deal with you?" Nerissa begged and tears fell down her cheeks.
She had been there for a long time. They had to make sure that she was completely clean before they had tested on her. Plus her not being of use was torture. The perfect punishment was to let someone rot. They knew how close she and her sister was. They wanted Nerissa to think about what she had done while she was counting down the days. Nerissa had scratched within the walls to count the days. She wanted to know how close she was to her sister's birthday, how much time her sister had left. Nerissa had always believed in true love.
She had always believed in love. She had accepted her mating fate. She would not let her sister go through the same kind of hell. Mating was supposed to sacred. Even before the virus broke out no one took care of love. There was that one couple that proved above all, but in the end Nerissa saw the tragedy.
She wished that people took care of love more. No one knew why they were on this earth. The only thing that anyone had was love and they let it grow with the weeds. Nerissa was trying to bring that concept back. She was trying to bring the concept of True Love back and that's what she had taught her sister. Nerissa wanted her sister to know what True Love felt like. She had felt it once upon a time and it was beautiful. That was before the virus...Nerissa clenched her fists. Anger filled her soul. The virus had done terrible things to her family and friends.
She looked at the doctor with serious eyes. She knew that this doctor was in high places. Nerissa knew he could help her. She'd seen it once before. A human had offered a vampire something so sacred that the vampires couldn't turn it down. Nerissa had hoped that she would be able to offer that same thing in exchange for her sister's freedom.

The doctor's eyes narrowed and his lips thinned, holding back the scoff about to surface from his tongue. Women crying was something he saw one too many times and it had little to almost no effect on him--maybe that's why Asphyxia was so remarkable. She didn't cry, she took everything strongly, no emotion facing her throughout the torturous experiments, only reactions that were needed to be jotted down for proof that the doctor wasn't just sitting on his ass, victimizing his subjects further.
Sighing, his fingers suddenly pinched the bridge of his nose. He knew what Nerissa was pleading, knew very well there was another she was bargaining for but his conflict between his job and saving these girls were wearing thin in his patience. He weighted his options, teetering between caring to escort them and server as a dreadful body guard or just letting them run, giving them the chance to get eaten by other sharp-nosed vampires.
He sighed heavily again, hung his head. The thread of humanity he had left was going to be spent playing guardian angel to humans.
Ice blue eyes focused one last time at where he had left Asphyxia and dragged back slowly toward Nerissa.
"Cut the tears, please. I'll take... Asphyxia and we can leave. Just tell me where your sister is."
About to walk away, he paused, looked back at her and said, "I don't know what kind of vampire you take me for, but I'm not interested in anyone's blood." He signaled her to walk with him, lifted Asphyxia as if she were a feather and waited for Nerissa to guide him to her sister.

Nerissa was surprised by his answer and she wiped her tears, confused. What kind of doctor was he? She should be alert or just take his offer? Should she scream? Nerissa looked down at Asphyxia. The helpless girl who the doctor had wanted to take. She clenched her fists and sat up. If the doctor was willing to help then she maybe she should just go along with the doctor. What was the harm in that? She could save her sister and get the hell out of this country.
But then again he had Asphyxia. What had he wanted to do with her? What was so special about her? Nerissa paused in her thoughts. Or what if he was just some kind of creep? Nerissa would never be able to forgive herself. If she just left Asphyxia with this doctor and he had done something to her, Nerissa wouldn't be able to live with knowing that. She cared too much. Nerissa was still tied to the bed. She had needed to get out.
"Let me go first. I'm the only one she trusts." Nerissa said. "I promise I'll cooperate if you just let me go."
She had needed to get to her sister and she wasn't fibbing to the doctor. Her baby sister only trusted her. It was something that Nerissa was able to teach her sister before she was captured. The Corporate didn't take kindly to protestors and Nerissa was one of them. She was not only one of them, but the one that had organized the whole thing. Nerissa secretly believed that she was the only one that could save her species. Not because of some prophecy, but because of the previous Constitutional rights. Because of her passion. She believed that humans should rule the earth, not vampires.
Vampires were an abomination of nature. Creatures that couldn't die and that the sun rejected...It didn't sound like a life to her. It sounded like an abomination. But the difference between Nerissa and most of the rebellions was that Nerissa wasn't a hater. She believed in peace. And peace she was going to get. She just needed the doctor to trust her. Then it would confirm her beliefs. If the doctor let her go then it would reassure Nerissa that vampires were worth saving. And that they were just like everybody else on this planet, capable of love.

If the Doctor had a free hand, it would be pinching the bridge of his nose in utter frustration.
"Nerissa, I can't let any of you go, I'm the only one able to escort you without every vampire within 60 feet of you hearing your ridiculously agitated missteps." It was in his voice how much patience he was losing with each word he spoke, but he mustered the little shred of tolerance that was left and brought the fainted frame of the woman on a gurney.
"Listen, we do not have much time." How he managed to say this in between his teeth and clearly was beyond him. "I have a plan and I need you to follow through. Do not leave my side." He emphasized each word as if he were starting a new sentence repeatedly and motioned for Nerissa to follow his flank. That's when an overly elegant almost robotic voice rang through the intercom. "Attention. Conducting Code Yellow. Code Yellow is now in process." Fuck his dumb luck. Code Yellow meant searches, which in one hand meant easily sneaking since everyone was distracted but in the other hand, fucking searches meant someone would be on his tail especially since he had two valuable test subjects on his watch.
"Follow through." His voice instructed, pushing the gurney through the glass and out the door quickly before the lab was shut down.
[This is as far as I remember before the idiot Proboards ate my post months ago so I'll leave it here to come up with the rest later or think on what will happen next. I know it involved him helping Asphyxia and Nerissa to Nerissa's sister. Fudge.]

Nerissa got up from the bed after being let go. Her heart jumped at the robotic voice. Code Yellows gave her hope that not all the vampires wanted to see humans' destruction. It meant that the vampires didn't trust one another. At least that's what it meant in her eyes. She followed through with the doctor and looked at Asphyxia.
After this was all over, Nerissa was going to ask her if she wanted to stay with her. They were both prisoners together in the same area for quite some time. If the doctors messed with her too much, Nerissa would protest and bother the doctors until they would focus their attention on her.
Since Nerissa was human they tested her with witch blood and werewolf venom. The werewolf venom was the worst. It made her bones hurt and took all of her energy away. The witch blood gave her terrible nightmares. The dreams she has now are all lucid dreams and she hated it. Nerissa wished that things could go back to normal before all this vampiric outbreak happened.
Life was simple and safe. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't like this. Vampires didn't control the government and humans weren't almost extinct. All of these thoughts were circling in her mind when she remembered what ward she needed to go to. Nerissa needed to the Teen Ward where her sister was held captive.
She stayed close to the doctor and hoped that he would take her there but this Code Yellow was going to slow them down if he let her go to the ward.
