Lestat's eyes narrowed further, following the easy breezing steps he took to outreach and touch Avril, but the hand still grabbing her arm pulled her away from behind him and hoisted her in his arms. His eyes had scanned already his plan for escape, his decoy and his second option if he were to get hindered in his path. His grays scurried along the treading path he'd set out for his plan if this were to happen, his steps becoming an array of blue blurs as he moved to the outskirts, disappearing between the crowd of people before swerving around and heading for the door. It had been the perfect escape although it was vague and could easily fail but Lestat wasn't going out without a fight. The instinctual predator inside of him would thirst for every blood, even vampire blood if it were necessary and destroying him would be too easy even though he'd been rusty in his hunting. After being a father and going through all the hassling wars and inconveniences in his place, all of his life had to be left behind. It wasn't gathered back after Lauren died and he gave up Lilly and Leroy to his sister so she could raise and take care of his precious children. But where had his immortal life gone to? His eyes blinked back to find himself still scented inside the warming night club, debating whether or not should he put human's lives in peril for a simple inhumane war? For her, over her? How could it be possible to fight over someone you hurt and didn't quite love anymore when the glint of killer surfaced?

Avril was about to scream as Jared reached for her, but in a blink she was swooped up by Lestat. Him, he; Lestat...Lestat had picked her up and protected her and took her to safety. The people inside made a commotion of gasps and stares. Jared was angry. His anger was almost palpable. He narrowed his eyes and swore to himself that this wasn't over. Jared would get Avril and drink her dry and the best part...No one would know. Well, no one besides Lestat and he would have to live with that. A sly smile formed across his lips. The bar tender looked at Jared firmly. His face was beet red and his cheeks were puffed up. He put his fat hands on his hips and gritted his teeth.
"You are not welcome here." The bar tender yelled. "Get out of my bar!"
Jared eyed the man and laughed. "Watch yourself," he said. "One of these days you just might drink yourself to death." He sneered and left the premises. He would get Avril later. When he had more strength and when he had thought of a better plan.
Her heart pumped a little bit faster with a spark of hope. Maybe he did love her still and if not...Well she would move on. Her green irises looked up at Lestat and then she blushed. No. That was too soon. She could not blush on the first day that the two of them had been together again. Still... Everything felt so right. Avril felt whole again. She didn't want to lose that feeling. Not again. The memories of crying alone in alleys and inside park slides...Her eyes watered a little, but she bit her tongue. Avril refused to cry in front of him when she deserved every bit of cold shoulder from him. Avril sighed and her blond fell over her eyes. She looked down.
"Thank you..." Avril whispered.
She longed to look in his eyes...Those beautiful eyes, but she knew she mustn't. The girl felt horrible for what she did. If she could do anything over again, she would change the past. She would fix their relationship. Oh the wishes...None of which could be happen. A hole formed in her heart again. Avril brought herself to look at Lestat.
"If you want I could leave...I don't want to be a burden," Avril said.
